About the Foundation....

Honoree History

Robert Woolfork was born on February 4, 1939, in West Palm Beach, FL.  He attended Florida A & M University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962.   He was also a Fall 1961 initiate of the Alpha Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and was a member of the Army ROTC.

Attorney Woolfork obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law and was admitted to The Florida Bar on May 1, 1973.  He also taught classes, and served as  Assistant Dean at the College of Law.

In February of 1975, he helped to form The Black Lawyers of Tallahassee, known today as the Tallahassee Barristers Association. He was also elected the organization's first president due to his enthusiasm for the organization.

Attorney Woolfork served as the former Director of Personnel for the State of Florida under Governor Bob Graham. After this appointment, he held several positions in Legal Aid, the Florida State Attorney’s Office, and other state agencies prior to going into private practice for the next 40 years.

He married the love of his life, Betty Bacon, on March 15, 1969, and to this union they had two sons:  Robert Scott and William. On January 30, 2023, he was beckoned by our Lord to transcend from life to eternity.
